END OF YEAR ENTRIES – Print and EDI
A reminder that End of Year prints will be collected on Tuesday 26th November. You may wish to use one or both of the prints that you enter in the November “Icons” competition and this is acceptable.
Members are permitted to enter one print only in each category, i.e. one in Colour and one in Monochrome. The print/s must be from entries submitted during the current competition year.
The same applies to EDI’s – one EDI selected from your 2019 entries.
Saturday 30th November at 11.45 pm., is the close off time for on-line entries to both the print and EDI sections. You do not need to up-load any of your images, just click on the green ‘Upload for 2019 Image of the Year’ tabs (print and/or EDI) and make your selection.
Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact Ruth Brooks -photocomp@wollongongcameraclub.com

PG MEETING – Tue. 12th NOVEMBER 2019 – “Introduction and Overview of using Speedlite”
Our Guest Speaker on Tuesday evening is former member Craig Parker.
Craig will be doing the first of two presentations covering the use of flash.
Tuesday’s talk/discussion will be about “lighting” using flash, viz.
- Basics of Light
- Basics of Flash
- Exposure Options
- On-Camera direct fill flash
- On-Camera bounce flash
- Off-Camera flash
- The use of diffusers/light modifiers
You do not need to bring your Camera and flash. All you will need is a notebook and pen.
The next workshop scheduled for 10th March 2020 will be a hands-on using both your camera and flash.
Depending on the success of the first two workshops, it will be possible to wrap it all up with a full day’s session with a series of exercises both indoor and outdoor covering both on-camera and off-camera flash.
Craig is an excellent presenter and educator, so don’t miss this opportunity of learning how to take your photography to another level.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS AT THE SCHOOL – Effective Immediately.
The School has imposed some restrictions on where we can and cannot park when attending Club meetings and whilst this will not be an issue for the Movie Maker’s, I think that on the Photo Group competition nights when we have a a good roll up of members, late comers may have to double park or else park on Lewis Drive and walk up the steps; not the best for walking back down in the dark.
The restrictions apply to the covered area just outside the entrance to the School hall due to the fact that the thinly applied asphalt base is showing some damage and there also appears to be a problem with the ground sinking in places. Furthermore, we are not permitted to park on the grassed area in the top car park.
Fortunately, we can however park in both the bottom and top car parks !
Members co-operation and adherance to the above would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

JUDGE CHANGE – NOVEMBER COMPETITION
The Photo Group’s November set subject competition “Icons” will be judged by Mary Furness instead of Terry Muller-Maher.
Terry has regrettably cancelled and quick thinking Ruth was back in touch with Mary who was our appointed Judge going back to April this year, but, if you do recall, did not make her judging debut.
However, all’s well that ends well and we now have the opportunity to finally meet Mary and look forward to welcoming her to our Club.

PG MEETING – Tue 9th JULY,2019. Guest Speaker CRAIG PARKER” MPSA, BPSA, EFIAP/b, APSEM
All members are invited to attend the Photo Group’s Meeting on Tuesday 9th July. There will be new things to learn as Craig’s presentation will be on “Shooting for Someone Else”. What this means is that most of Craig’s photography is for himself, whether family shots, sporting events or overseas wildlife trips – he shoots what he likes.
However, since retiring from full time work, Craig does some paid photography, essentially shooting for someone else. Craig will share his experience of two projects that he has done for the Marketing Department of a local private school. Two projects with a very clear product outcome !
Time permitting, Craig will also briefly cover a few aspects of “Image Evaluation”.
By the way, for those who do not know Craig, he is a former Member of our Club, having served on the Committee as both President and Secretary and since leaving the Club a few years ago, Craig has immersed himself in getting his many, many photographic awards (as shown above).
Craig is a wonderful photographer and you will not be disappointed with his presentation. Please make the effort to attend, however cold it may be for you will most certainly be rewarded.
Thank you.
