Its a week to go to our 2021 Exhibition in the Old Courthouse.

We look back to June 2012 when we had the exhibition in the Old Court House.

Can you remember all the images? Maybe you were not a member then? Please help support the next Exhibition commencing at 8:00am on 19th June and running until late afternoon of the 20th June. Some 20 members have allowed us to hang their precious images for public viewing.

Invite your family and friends to come and see the members personal photographs and over one hour of Movie Makers videos and audio visuals.

Where you can see the Australian Silo Art Trail.

I am sure many of us have enjoyed seeing many of the beautiful Silo Art images , indeed I had success with a monochrome silo image in the recent competition.

I have just found the website and also that they have published a book for photographers to locate the images whilst planning their holidays. Please support these artists and townships on your holiday. The Facebook Group has a weekly competition for your Silo Art images. Why not have a go with one of yours.

Tuesday Night Competition Details for Members. 23 Feb 2021

Hi All members,

With the latest changes to the CoVid 19 rules it will be possible for all  members to be in the Hall on Tuesday evening when we have an Open Competition for Digital images and Prints. Our Judge is Dianne Goodman.

Your health & safety is our priority. During this time, our club will be operating as usual however we should as a priority remember to use the highest of hygiene practices during COVID-19.
Those of you who usually help with putting out the stands, lights , laptop and audio equipment are welcome to come early as we have to be setting up with CoVid precautions in place. There will be a signing in and setting up  procedure before any members are allowed into the Hall at approx 7:10pm. This will mean that the 1.5 metre social distancing  will be necessary while you are waiting in the outside covered area. The Services Australia QR code will be displayed for your convenience and monitored before you are allowed into the room for positioning any prints on the stands. Seating with be subject to the 2 sq meter rule that is in place at the moment for the premises. This is subject to change depending on the current CoVid rules in place at the time.

Practice hygiene etiquette

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. If you don’t have a tissue, Cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands. This is to prevent others getting sick and germs spreading.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.- Avoid close contact & maintain social distancing.
We ask that you avoid handshaking and other physical greetings. Maintain at least 1.5 meter distance between yourself and others

PLEASE MAKE USE OF THE HAND SANITISER PROVIDED.
Looking forward to seeing all members especially the new members who have not had the pleasure of meeting each other at the Club venue.

Thanks

CoVid 19 causes our planned meeting to be on Zoom this week only!

As you are all aware, Wollongong has now a current CoVid 19 warning and as a result your Committee has decided that the planned meeting for Tuesday 9th February will now be held as an on-line Zoom meeting.

We are disappointed that we will not be able to meet face to face as we had planned but better safe than sorry.

I will email the Zoom link later today to each of you. Looking forward to seeing you all and listening to a great speaker

June Andersen: Nature Photography at 7:30 pm Tuesday 9th February.

Into the Next Year of CoVid 19 Restrictions.

Hi to everyone,

Yes, we have emerged from 12 months of CoVid 19 and the Wollongong Camera Club has survived and has indeed grown in size.

I would like to welcome a new group of members to the Club : Denis Goh, Graham Hamilton, Alletia Hogan, Luke Molloy and Les Schumer.

It will be a pleasure to meet you all, “facemask to facemask”, at our first Photographic Group meeting on Tuesday 9th February at 7:30 pm. We are to listen to an experienced speaker, June Andersen, who hails from the South Coast. Some members are already familiar with her work and this can be seen on her website.

As we are meeting under CoVid 19 restrictions, note that we will be temperature testing and recording attendance of each attendee. Masks will be required to be worn at all times whilst maintaining social distancing. So, please be patience with our Marshals who will be looking after your wellbeing. Full details will be posted on how we are implementing the plan. Seating will be fixed with the 1.5 metre social distancing with a maximum of 36 members allowed in the Hall. There will be no refreshments but you may wish to bring your own. No Name Tags will be given out.

Movement during the meeting is limited and social discussion is not encouraged between members.

There are changes in the Monthly Competition procedures and we will be accepting Mounted Prints again this year for judging on the night. The Print and Digital Image Competition closing time and dates are to be found here

The Competition Rules have been revised and these are to be ratified by members on the 9th February.

Annual General Meeting – 2nd March 2021. 7:30pm

Venue School Hall – CoVid 19 Restrictions apply.

I am sure you are all aware that the AGM will take place on this date and we will all be looking forward to the election of the 2021 Management Committee. Nomination and Proxy forms are available and need to be with the Secretary as per the Constitution.

Each member shall be entitled to appoint another member as proxy by notice given to the Secretary no later than 24 hours before the time of the meeting in respect of which the proxy is appointed.

Nominations of candidates for election to the Management Committee of the Wollongong Camera Club –
(a) Must be made in writing, signed by two (2) members of the Wollongong Camera Club and accompanied by the written consent of the candidate (which may be endorsed on the form of Nomination), in the form set out in the Controlled Document “Nomination For Election To Committee”
(b) Must be delivered to the Secretary of the Wollongong Camera Club not less than 7 days before the date fixed for the holding of the Annual General Meeting at which the election is to take place; and
(c) Must be a financial member of the Wollongong Camera Club

Well, this a bit longer than I wished but now that we are able to meet in the Hall and not Zooming together, I would to thanks the Committee who have been working hard over the break to ensure the Club meetings will met the Government CoVid 19 restrictions and we continue in our School Hall in the knowledge each of us are glad to get back to a more normal life.

From the Past – 4 years ago The good old days

While watching our guest speaker last meeting, I remembered this evening we had presented by various Club members. I thought you may enjoy this face to face presentation.

Producing MonoChrome Images

Talk at Wollongong Camera Club as members talk about their experiences producing monochrome images. August 2016. The Lightroom demo discussion is not included as there are many good tutorials on the subject that meet the needs of members. I recommend Serge Ramelli and here is a link – Serge Ramelli Lightroom, Photoshop and Photography Tips / Tutorials

How CoVid has affected Our Club

Hi All,

I had mentioned to you all that I had received an invitation from the editor of the E-News magazine of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain to tell UK readers how we have coped with the CoVid virus and affect on the Clubs in Australia. This morning I have received the newsletter and I hope you all will read the article. My thanks to Ian , John and Bruce for details in the article. So now, some members photographs and information about Wollongong has been published in Great Britain. Enjoy your moments of fame.

Creative Container Gallery 5-18 October 2020

A message from the President to all members.

I am unfortunately unable to visit the Exhibition that you are all contributing to. I have been sent these photographs of the Gallery and it’s a great effort that we all need to support with prints and members talking to the general public who are visiting the Expo.

We are located at the lower end of the Mall
Holding the Fort

Many thanks to Tim Porteous for the photographs and the other members who are supporting this effort by our Marketing Director. Please go and see and post your comments and photographs to our FaceBook Group.
