MOVIE MAKERS – “DaVINCI RESOLVE 15” Video Editing Programme Overview (read more)
Jul 2 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

John Devenish and Ian Simpson are most impressed with this programme – here are their comments ..

Ever wondered how powerful FREE editing software can be?
Come along and find out why DaVinci Resolve has become the leading editing software for both amateurs and professionals

Blackmagic Design’s Davinci Resolve 15 offers a variety of tools for professional video editing and colour grading along with a built-in visual effects toolset and robust audio editor. It’s got a remarkable price of free, with the option to upgrade to  Design Davinci 15 Studio for $300 to unlock the full toolset of stuff you might never need. Blackmagic Design is known for disrupting the marketplace, and  Design Davinci 15 does just that, and whatsmore it can be used to produce A/Vs. It packs in lots of strong real-world tools, and they’re giving it away for free. Only a hardware company that wants to sell you hardware could do that. But the coolest thing is that you don’t need the companion hardware to use  Design DaVinci 15 at a professional level.

Think about if you could have all of the video related programs from Adobe in a single program — Premiers Pro, After Effects and Audition, without the need to round-trip from program to program. That’s basically what Blackmagic Design is doing here with  Design Davinci  . Resolve offers tools for editing and color along with Fusion for visual effects and motion graphics and Fairlight for your audio needs. But unlike Adobe, it’s free.

Aug 13 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Steve Piggot last visited our Club with Malcolm Fackender sometime last year.  At that time Steve was working for Adeal Photographics and since then Adeal have now aligned with the Vitec Group who provide a wide range of Photographic Accessories and equipment.

Steve says …

Cameras take the image, but accessories make it.

While we all know that the camera and lens take the image, we forget that it’s often the accessories that make the image. Whether it’s filters helping you get that spectacular sunrise, tripods making it possible to get those crystal clear long-time exposures or those modifiers that make that harsh speedlight usable. Accessories are the unrecognised heroes of photography, but figuring out what you need rather than what you want, can often be overwhelming.

In this short talk, we will discuss tripods, filters and lighting to help you figure out what’s best for you, your equipment and your style of photography.

PHOTO GROUP – REMOTE CONTROL and TRIGGERING with Brendon Parker (read more)
Sep 10 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Brendon says :

There are occasions when you may want to operate your camera remotely ( wildlife photography is a common example). Cameras can be operated remotely by simple remote control of the shutter or more elaborately by computers or mobile phones. The connections can be wired or wireless. Shutter speed, aperture and focus can all be adjusted and the image seen in live view, the image may be taken directly from the computer or phone. Remote control can also be used for focus stacking and is valuable for macrophotography.

The operation of cameras can also be triggered by sensors which respond to external stimuli for example: sound, motion, lightening, breaking a light beam and so on.

Brendon will discuss and demonstrate remote operation and triggering of Canon and Sony cameras and a dedicated (and cheap) wildlife camera. The demonstration will include third party devices that add additional capability.

Brendon will show examples of wildlife photos taken with these systems.

Nov 5 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

In tune with the Club’s historic year where we as a Club have gone back through our history, evaluating how we have grown and changed with the times, Ian Simpson has suggested that each person bring two video’s to the Meeting.

Both video’s should be ones that you are proud of; one video should have been made a number of years ago and the other just recently produced.

The idea is to evaluate and discuss each member’s progress and perhaps take the discussion further as to what the Movie Makers either as a Group, or as individuals,  would like to do next year as well as in future years at the Club.

Feb 11 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

The Photo Group’s first meeting to be held on Tuesday 11th February.

This will be a very interesting meeting because our Guest Speaker for the evening is our Club’s long time friend Roy Killen who has many, many letters following his name, some of which are…. EFIAP (Excellence award, International Federation of Photographic Arts), GMPSA (Grand Masters award, Photographic Society of America), GMAPS (Grand Masters award, Australian Photographic Society), APSEM (Australian Photographic Society Exhibitors Medal); I could go on, but there are too many to mention.

Roy is a wonderful photographer and his main interest is “nature/wildlife” photography. Roy will be doing a presentation on “Nature Photography” and you will have the opportunity to see and hear about the techniques he uses, the photographic equipment he carries and hopefully get some valuable insight into what is required when photographing nature or wildlife.

Roy will also be giving us some tips on how to maximise our chances of success in competitions.
