Oh, what a night the club members had with Meredith Schofield on May 8th. We  knew from her opening remarks, a song from the 1980’s by Maddona that this wasn’t going to be any ordinary presentation. Meredith took us on a journey of Street Photography and then Social Documentary presenting her “visual story-telling” image taking. She managed to combine her Social Work training with her photographic skills to open a new world to taking pictures. In the words of our meeting’s chairperson, “…it was not only educational, it was enlightening and entertaining”. Meredith says she is an “… analogue girl in a digital world.” Using her Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SP1000 (1960’s) film camera she brought the film era alive with her modern day digital processing. Meredith presented 3 key items: 1 – Trust your instincts; 2 – Challenged us to reduce the number of images taken and 3 – “Plan, wait, watch, wait, have patience, then take thepicture at the right moment of time”. Thank you Meredith for a wonderful insight into your photography and helping us to understand more about “People Photography”. If you were in the audience, then please use this post’s comments to share your thoughts on the evening.
