PHOTOGRAPHY GROUPS’ APRIL 2021 NEWSLETTER PUBLISHED
April 2021 has been a busy time for the Photography Group; Outings, Presentation (Landscape), Competitions and more Field Trips. Add to this exciting programme the Club’s upcoming 2021 Exhibition at Wollongong’s Old Courthouse in June (19~20th).
Our Monthly Competitions is ramping up with challenges to members by new members, along with some longer established members producing some great entries especially in B Grade Prints.
Remember: The May 11th PG Meeting; “Creative Flower Photography” with Colin Harrison from the UK will be on ZOOM and not at the School.
The April Newsletter covers the above and more. Please take the time to read the latest Newsletter. Remember to check the Club’s website regularly for Programme changes.

WCC June Exhibition
Hi members
A reminder to all members that the Club requires at least 80 prints in order to present an interesting and worthwhile Exhibition.
As advised last Tuesday, the Club has around 50 black metal frames which members are entitled to borrow. These frames are 16 x 20 inch or 50 x 40 cm in size.
We have limited the number of prints that each member can submit to four, i.e. colour and/or mono. If you are using your own frames please give consideration to having black frames so that we can maintain uniformity throughout the display. If this is a problem please phone Dawne to discuss.
If you want to submit images in your own frames that are slightly over or under the requested sizing, please feel free to do so as we should be able to incorporate them into the overall presentation.
The Club has four easels, (two of which are now reserved by two members) on which we can display large framed images or canvas prints and there is also an area above the fireplace in the main entrance hall at the Court House where a fairly large image can be hung.
If you have a large print that you wish to either exhibit or sell, please let Dawne know in advance stating whether it is a canvas or framed image and the approximate size. This information would need to be e-mailed to Ruth Brooks as well .. secretary@wollongongcameraclub.org.au – thank you!
As of today, only four members have borrowed Club frames and this is somewhat concerning as we would like to see a good representation of our members’ work. The images you display can be on any subject and they don’t have to be images that have previously been entered in Club competitions. One member said to me last Tuesday … “I won’t be submitting anything, as my work is not good enough for an Exhibition” … I have to admit that this was a disappointing response, as all our members, without exception, do some wonderful photography which I am sure that the General Public will enjoy viewing or even buying.
Anyone wishing to borrow Club frames can contact me on 0401 540 699 to arrange a time and date to collect the frames.
As advised previously, we will be collecting members framed images on Tuesday 25th May (competition evening). Please make sure that your frames are are well wrapped so that they do not scratch or damage. Also ensure that you have a label at the back of each image stating :
Name ….
Title of Image ….
For Sale … $ amount (print only or framed)
(If using a Club frame, the frame would not be included)
or
Not For Sale
NOTE : Most importantly, please e-mail Ruth with the details as shown on your label secretary@wollongongcameraclub.org.au
We need the support of all our members to make this Exhibition a success, so please support your Club.
Thank you.

WCC Auction 13 July
Our Grand Auction is 13 July with an auctioneer who will be as persuasive as he is entertaining. Here’s your opportunity to clear out the gear that you thought you’d use but haven’t and to buy gear that you’d like to try.
If you have some small items, you might like to simply donate them to the club. Larger items can be auctioned with 10% of the proceeds going to the Club.
Please send details and reserve price (if any) to me (secretary@wollongongcameraclub.org.au) by 5 July so I can make a catalogue and distribute it before the auction.
Then bring your items to sell before 7pm on Tuesday 13th July.
We will have fun
See you there

The sessions will continue on 15 June with Ilona Ibou-Zolof and Christine Brunton talking about Altering Reality with Photoshop. On 20 July we will share and discuss our own photos and on 17 August we will have a Creative competition with Judge Kerry Boytell.
These Creative Sessions are open to all members and you can come to all sessions (preferably) or just some of them.
Shirley would like to have some idea of how many people are coming to her session. Would you email me and let me know whether or not you can come? My address is secretary@wollongongcameraclub.org.au
Looking forward to seeing everyone in May

WCC Old Court House Exhibition
I posted the information below at the beginning of the month and neglected to add that prints for the exhibition need to be with Dawne Harridge by 25 May (our May competition night). I have reprinted the original email below.
Our Club exhibition will be at the Old Court House in Wollongong on 19 and 20 June. Saturday 19th will be from 8am till 4pm and Sunday will be 8am till 3pm. Setup will be on Friday 18th, we don’t have a time for setup yet. We will pack up from 3pm on Sunday and members need to come in to collect their prints.
We are hoping that all members will exhibit images – up to four images each. Dawne will bring Club frames to meetings so members can borrow them to frame their prints. The mat size needs to be 16 x 20 inches.
Members can use their own frames which are preferably 16 x 20 inches and preferably black (for uniformity). Please make sure that there is strong cord or string attached to the back of the frame. The Club cannot be responsible for a frame that is damaged if the cord breaks.
We can display a limited number of larger prints. Please speak to Dawne if you would like to do this so she can coordinate it.
Each print must have a label on the back with title and author and also whether or not the print is for sale, it’s price and whether the price includes the frame (frame must be your own if it’s for sale). Please also email that information to me (secretary@wollongongcameraclub.org.au) so we can make display labels.
Please also let me know when you can help during the weekend. We need people on Friday to help set up and people on Sunday at 3pm to pack and clean up (as well as the people who come to collect their prints). We also need people who can come for two hours on Saturday and/or Sunday to help with organisation and answer questions.
Summary
- Up to 4 prints per member 16 x 20 inches framed (club frames available).
- Label with information on back.
- Email information to Ruth.
- Let Ruth know when you are available to help: Friday? Saturday times? Sunday times? Sunday pack up?
